Interview Preparation for Primary School Teachers

John is a highly skilled interview coach. His knowledge of the interview process is second to none. Through working with John I learned how to answer interview questions with confidence and ease. He worked tirelessly with me to ensure I was prepared to the highest possible standard. I felt that I was fully able to answer any interview question that may arise and this allowed me to remain calm and collected throughout the interview process.

I received interview preparation from John prior to applying for the position of Assistant Principal I. John provided a very thorough and structured approach while covering every aspect of the interview process. John placed great emphasis on the Quality Framework for Primary Schools and he helped me to merge my own personal experience with the effective practice outlined in this document. He provided a number of informative online sessions while also sending detailed notes and sample answers. John did a number of mock interviews with me. This aspect of his service was highly beneficial as I learned to anticipate questions and prepare suitable answers. With this interview practice, I also learned to manage my own natural interview nerves. After engaging with John, I felt more confident and well equipped to present myself confidently at interview.

Our son is autistic. Nine years ago when we wanted to enrol him in a Primary School all doors were closed in our face. Fortunately a Department of Education inspector referred us to Mr John Hand, Principal of St Oliver Plunkett NS , Navan.

Mr Hand enrolled the child in St Oliver’s and immediately set about getting resources put in place to help him. Our son had very complex needs and was very difficult to handle at home and at school. We have a lot to thank Mr Hand for and we will be forever indebted to him for the efforts he has made on our son’s behalf.

As a newly qualified teacher, John took me under his wing from the day I started in St Oliver’s. John was always available to offer advice, listen to concerns and point me in the right direction. This has continued to this day. Although I left St Oliver Plunketts, John continued to mentor me in my present role as principal.

John is always available to take a call and help with any queries I have. When I resigned my post in 2004, to move home to the west, he still helped me prepare for interviews for principal jobs i had applied for. This is the type of man John is. He always has the best interests of other people.
